Solo Tab
In this tutorial, I will explain the Solo tab in the Users Module.
In the Solo tab, you can specify which aircraft types a pilot is authorised to fly as Pilot in Command (PIC), provided they comply with the Currency defined in Settings (please refer to the tutorial View Flight Currency for more information).
Please note that the Solo tab only appears for users with the type “Pilot / Instructor.” For more information on managing user types, see the tutorial Manage Users.
Now, let’s get started.
First, go to the Users Module and select a user.
Open the Solo tab.
Tick the checkboxes next to the aircraft types you want this pilot to be authorised to fly as PIC.
A green notification will appear, confirming that your changes have been successfully saved.
To undo, simply untick the corresponding boxes.
Note that if no aircraft type is selected, the pilot will be authorised to fly all aircraft in the fleet as Pilot in Command.
To demonstrate how this works, I’ve selected an Instructor—Harvey Specter—and authorised him to act as PIC only on Cessna 152s.
Now, if I go to the Schedule, create a booking, select a different aircraft type, such as this Piper PA-28, and choose the same instructor (Harvey Specter) as the PIC, an error message appears indicating that he is not authorised to fly that aircraft as PIC.
If I attempt to save the booking, an error window will pop up, preventing the booking from being created.
This constraint applies to all booking types, where (Harvey Specter) this instructor would be the Pilot in Command, whether that is Solo, Instruction, Touristic, etc.
Remember: to view the Solo tab, you must have the “View solo tab” right in Roles and Privileges. To be able to modify it, you will need the “Edit solo tab” right.
For more information, please watch the tutorial, How to manage the Roles and Privileges of the Users Module to learn more.
