How to Mass Edit Users

In this tutorial, I will show you how to mass edit users.

Mass Edit allows you to select users or groups of users to edit specific information on all selected users at once. For instance, you can change their status to “Active” or “Inactive”; change the type of user to “Company”, “Pilot/Instructor”, or “Other”; write a general note, and select a Role.

For example, you can select a group of students that have terminated their training and change their status to inactive, or select a group of instructors and change their role from “Instructor” to “Theoretical Instructor”, which will give them a different set of privileges.

NOTE: In the section "Roles and Privileges" you can only select a role that has already been configured. If you want to assign a new role not found in the drop-down menu, you must first add and configure it in the Users Module in Roles and Privileges.

MASS EDIT: (01:11)

Let me show you how easy it is to mass edit:

1. First, log in to your account.

2. Go to the Users Module.

3. Click on the “Mass Edit” button, the pencil icon on the top right-hand corner of the page. Here you can configure your changes.

4. First, select the users. You can either search for a name with the search tool, check or uncheck all the users, select a specific group from the drop-down list, or manually look for the names and select one at a time. When you finish your selection, click “Save”.

5. You can choose to change the users’ status to “Active” or “Inactive”. Inactive users will not be eligible to be scheduled for a flight or ground lesson, and will not be able to log in to Private-Radar.

6. Change the type of user to “Company”, “Pilot/Instructor”, or “Other”. The type you choose for the users will change the user information that is requested and how that information is used in the system.

- For example, a user with the type “Company” can be selected as a payer or subsidiary.

- A user with the type "Pilot/Instructor" will be displayed as an option in the drop-down list of the crew in a booking in the Schedule Module, so this should be selected for users such as students and instructors. Furthermore, for the type "Pilot/Instructor" you can then change the status of each user:

  • In-flight: The user is allowed to fly. The user can be scheduled for flight and ground bookings. You cannot create an aircraft booking with a pilot that does not have the status "In-Flight". This option could be selected for pilots, students, and instructors, basically, anyone who can fly an aircraft.

  • Grounded: The user is not allowed to fly. The user can only participate in ground lessons. This option could be selected for students that are in the theory phase of a course.

  • Standby: The user is temporarily paused, not operating. The user can only participate in ground lessons. This option could be selected for students who have stopped for a limited time.

NOTE: The status can be used also as a filter in the Users Module.

- Any other users can be registered as “Other”.

7. Now let's continue with mass editing. You can write a general note. This will register on the users' information in the note section.

8. Last but not least, you can select a role that will apply to all the selected users. This action will enable the role and privileges that have been configured in the Users Module. Please watch more in-depth tutorials about the Roles and Privileges to learn more.

9. When you are done, don't forget to save your settings.

NOTE: If you do not select a value for some fields, they will not be modified. By using mass edit, the changes will be applied to all of the selected users.

ROLES AND PRIVILEGES: (04:15)

You can allow users with a specific role to be able to perform mass editing by configuring the Roles and Privileges for the Users Module. For more information, please watch the tutorial How to Manage the Privileges for the Users Module.
